When you want to move a character or vehicle freely while recording, using a game **controller is the name of the game.

Our game controller system has several different modes, and the buttons on your controller will do different things depending on what mode you’re in.

We’ll go through each of those below. First, you’ll need to connect a game controller.

Things to know

<aside> 💡 We’ve built our game controller integration to work with an Xbox One Bluetooth-enabled controller. It can theoretically be used with other Bluetooth-enabled controllers, but we haven’t designed for those controllers yet, so results are not guaranteed.

<aside> 💡 This only works with Xbox controllers One S, Series X|S, Elite Series or any other Bluetooth-enabled Xbox controllers. We do not support Xbox 360or non-Bluetooth Xbox One controllers. “wireless controller for xbox one” doesn’t work. If it has the glossy part it’s the wrong controller.

Connecting an Xbox wireless game controller

  1. Turn on your game controller.
  2. Press the pairing button on the front of the controller, near the bumpers. The Xbox button should flash.
    1. If it doesn’t, that means the controller is already paired to another device nearby, and you’ll need to unpair it from that device.
  3. On your Apple device, go to Settings > Bluetooth. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled.
  4. From the list of available Bluetooth devices, select Xbox Wireless Controller and follow the pairing prompts.
  5. When the Xbox button on the controller is glowing steadily, return to the Scout app.
